Stem van Afrika is a foundation that supports community based media in Africa. In 1962, the foundation was set up by Dutch broadcasters due to their belief that community radio can contribute to the emancipation in communities. Nowadays, Stem van Afrika still stands by that idea. Even though the number of community radios in Africa has increased, Stem van Afrika still finds endless possibilities in contributing in their own way to the development of community media. The foundation has a modest invested capacity. The annual output of that capacity is spent on community media establishments or projects in Africa.
